Nothing is hidden from His all-seeing eye!

Charles Spurgeon, et al.

1 Samuel 16:7, "Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."

"Would not God have discovered it, since He knows the secrets of the heart?" Psalm 44:21

"You have set our iniquities before You, our secret sins in the light of Your presence." Psalm 90:8

How solemn and searching is the truth that God knows everything! Nothing is hidden from His all-seeing eye! He who made the mind, reads it. He who formed the heart, searches it. There are no secret motives, no hidden sins, no private thoughts--that escape His notice. Men may deceive others, and even themselves, but they cannot deceive God. His omniscience penetrates every mask, exposes every hypocrisy, and weighs every intention and desire.

What men conceal, God exposes. Hidden sins are already illuminated before His face. There is no dark corner where sin can hide. Every deed is done in the open light of His omnipresence. God's gaze pierces beyond external religion, to the internal reality. He is not deceived by our religious professions or rituals. Our God not only sees what we do, but why we do it. He knows the motives that impel us, the desires that animate us, and the intentions that guide us. God not only knows, but He judges according to His perfect knowledge. His rewards and punishments are never mistaken. The omniscience of God strips away every pretense, and guarantees that the final judgment will be perfectly righteous.

This sobering truth is fearful to the hypocrite: his every secret sin is before the eyes of the Almighty! Hypocrisy is useless before God. His glance pierces through varnish and veneer, and reaches the core of the soul. To fear this all-knowing God, is the beginning of wisdom.

Yet what comfort it brings to the believer--that his every hidden tear and heart-felt prayer, is fully known by his loving Father. God knows our needs, our sorrows, and our struggles. God reads the secret motions of our souls. The pulse of our thoughts beats audibly to His ear. The very throbbings of our desires, the earliest tremblings of repentance, the first buddings of faith--He sees them all. Let us therefore live transparently before Him, with open hearts and surrendered wills, remembering that the One who knows all, also forgives all who come to Him through Jesus. To consciously live under His omniscience, is the foundation of peace.

"I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind." Jeremiah 17:10

"Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account." Hebrews 4:13
