Always in danger...

From Spurgeon's sermon, "A MERRY CHRISTMAS"

Christian, you are never out of danger of sinning.

This is a world of mire- it will be hard to pick
your path, so as not to soil your garments.

This is a world of pitch; you will need to watch often,
if in handling it you are to keep your hands clean.

There is a robber in every turn of
the road to rob you of your jewels.

There is a thief behind every bush.

There is a temptation in every mercy.

There is a snare in every joy.

There is not a stone on which you tread
under which there is not a viper's nest.

And if you shall ever reach heaven it will be a miracle of divine
grace. If you shall ever come safely home to your Father's house,
it will be because your Father's power brought you there.
