We study Scripture for His glory.
We evangelize for His glory.
We worship for His glory.

Even our trials can become occasions for glorifying Him.

OUR GOOD WORKS SHOULD GLORIFY GOD

Jesus taught His disciples: "Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:16

They are to cause others to praise our Father.

This is a crucial distinction:
A proud Christian can perform good works, while seeking the glory of man.
A humble Christian performs good works, while seeking the glory of God.

"Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them." Matthew 6:1

The Christian's goal is not: "Look at me."

It is: "Look at my God."

May our lives point away from ourselves, and toward Him.

EVEN OUR SUFFERING CAN GLORIFY GOD

Perhaps one of the most profound truths of Scripture is that God's glory can be displayed through the suffering of His people.

Peter wrote: "If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you." 1 Peter 4:14

The world says that suffering means God has failed.
Scripture teaches that God remains sovereign even in our suffering.

The Christian may not understand the purpose of every trial, but he can know this:
God has not lost control.

God is working all things according to His sovereign purpose, for our good, and His glory!
