Pithy gems from James Janeway, 1636-1674

The cross of Christ is the Christian's crown!
The reproach of Christ is the Christian's riches!
The shame of Christ is the Christian's glory!

If I had the wings of a dove, I would fly from the winds, the storms and tempests of this wicked world--and rest myself in the bosom of my Father!

God often gives the trinkets of this world to His greatest enemies.
He gives eternal glory to none but His redeemed children!

The worldling thinks he makes a very wise bargain, when he sells his conscience, God, and Heaven--for a little of that which some call riches.

How can they look for Heaven when they die, who thought it not worth their minding while they lived?

How many seeming saints shall gain nothing at death, but a thorough knowledge of their own folly!

He who counts nothing worth the having, except Christ, and for Christ, cannot be miserable--when he is lodged safely in His embraces.

God is oftentimes better, but never worse, than His Word.

How will the heavens echo with joy, when the Bride, the Lamb's wife, shall come to dwell with her Husband forever!

Those who die in sin, must be burned in Hell!

Your children are not too young to die; they are not too young to go to Hell.

Something to ponder:
You need to be born again children. You need to come to personal repentance and faith. And if you die before you come to personal repentance and faith, you are not going to Heaven; you are going to Hell. That's the warning we must give to children. We must not presume they're regenerated. We must tell them: "You must be regenerated; you must come to faith and repentance." Joel Beeke
