The grace of gentleness
(J. R. Miller, "Counsel and Help" 1907)
"Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me—for I am gentle and humble in heart." Matthew 11:29There are some Christians who seem never to have learned love's secret of gentleness. There is nothing that this sad, sorrowing, sinning world needs—more than gentleness; like that of Him of whom it is written, that He would not break a bruised reed. We need to pray for the grace of gentleness that we may walk softly among men, never hurting another life by harsh word or ungentle act.
"We were gentle among you, like a mother caring for her little children." 1 Thessalonians 2:7
"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love." Ephesians 4:2
