What a bauble!

How poor and trifling are all those objects which
so much engross the time and attention of the
great bulk of mankind!

What a bauble is wealth, compared with
the unsearchable riches of Christ!

How insignificant is the honor which comes from
man, compared with the honor which comes from
God!

And how contemptible the pleasures of sin,
which are but for a season--those short-lived
enjoyments for which men barter their souls
and eternal salvation!
